  • Dr. Rob Butters

    Dr. Rob Butters is the clinical director and President of LifeMatters and has worked with children and families for over 20 years in the public and private sector. He has specialties in forensic social work, sexual and physical abuse, juvenile delinquency, trauma, addiction, and interpersonal problems. Rob is passionate about improving peoples' lives through collaborative and innovative interventions.

    Rob has a BS in Psychology, a Masters of Social Work, and a PhD in Social Work form the University of Utah. Rob is licensed in the State of Utah as a Clinical Social Worker and is a credentialed NOJOS clinical provider.

    Dr. Butters is an Assistant Professor, Chair of Forensic Social Work, and Director of the Utah Criminal Justice Center at the University of Utah College of Social Work. Dr. Butters teaches advanced practice courses and research in the graduate school. Rob researches crime and delinquency, sexual abuse, empathy, integrative health practices, and social work education. Rob speaks locally and nationally on forensic social work and the welfare of children and families. Rob is the Editor of the Journal of Forensic Social Work and is a member of the National Organization of Forensic Social Work (NOFSW).

    Rob is the father of 4 and enjoys all sorts of outdoor activities including hiking, fly-fishing, and cycling. Rob strives to live a sustainable lifestyle by raising awareness about the environment and by bike commuting, reducing waste, and recycling.

  • Dr. Cindy Butters, DNP, FNP, APRN

    Cindy Butters is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) by American Nurses Credentialing Center since 1997. She has earned her Bachelors, Masters, and Clinical Doctorate in Nursing from the University of Utah.

    She has worked as a primary care provider in the fields of internal medicine, family medicine, women’s health, and mental health throughout her career as a Nurse Practitioner, treating clients from across the lifespan.

    Her nursing education has instilled a philosophy of care which includes evaluation of all aspects of health including physical, mental, environmental, and spiritual, which she incorporates into her assessment and treatment recommendations for her clients. She emphasizes health promotion and prevention of illness through provision of education and preventative healthcare services. She is a strong believer in the power of every individual to attain optimal health and is passionate about providing this holistic approach as a healthcare provider in order to facilitate wellness.

  • Dave Lamere - LCSW

    Dave Lamere is a Licensed Clinincal Social Worker who has worked with Children, Families and Adults for over 5 years in the public and private sector. He specializes in working with adolescents and adults in the area of sexual and physical abuse, mood disorders, anxiety, and substance abuse problems. He also specializes in working with adolescents with autistic spectrum disorders and Aspergers disorders.

    Dave has a Master Degree in Social Work from the University of Utah. He has a Bachelors of Science in Social Work and Bachelors of Science Gerontology from Weber State University. He is a NOJOS affiliate provider.

  • Pat Gooley - LCSW

    Patrick is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in NOJOS therapy, family therapy and working with juvenile behavioral problems. Patrick has experience working with addictions, criminal behaviors, academic problems and relationship problems. He is an avid outdoorsman and sportsman who brings lifestyle improving approach to therapy. Patrick provides individual, family and group therapy at Life Matters.

  • Charlie Johnson - LCSW

    Charlie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and received his Masters degree from University of Utah in the Forensics Domain. He has a BS in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Weber State University. He is a NOJOS affiliate provider. He has worked in the public sector in the Juvenile Courts and Juvenile Justice Services working with children, adolescents and their families to provide mental health and other services. He specializes in working with clients on sexual/physical abuse, substance abuse, mood disorders, anxiety, delinquency issues, ADHD and other issues in individual, group and family therapy. He teaches empowerment, especially with clients engaged in the court system.

  • Lauren Stivers - LCSW

    Lauren is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and received her Masters Degree in Social Work with an emphasis in Forensics. She has extenisive esperience with the Division of Child and Family Services and work extensively wiht children and familes on issues relating to abuse and neglect, behavior problems, and delinquency

  • Max Ward - LCSW

    Max is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and received his Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Utah. He has worked extensively with the Division of Child and Family Services and has considerable experience in providing therapy to those with addictions, compulsive attachments, blended families, oppositional adolescents, juvenile delinquency, depression/anxiety. Max also speaks Spanish fluently and conducts therapy in Spanish frequently. He is also a NOJOS affiliated therapist, and specializes in the treatment of sexual behavior problems. Max resides in the Salt Lake area with his wife and three children.

  • Becky Brown - CSW

    Becky is a Certified Social Worker and received her Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Utah with an emphasis in Forensics. She has extensive experience in working with adults with mental illness and individuals involved with the criminal justice system. Becky provides individual, family and group therapy at LifeMatters.

  • Brenda Dowse - CSW

    Brenda is a Certified Social Worker and received her Masters in Social Work from the University of Utah with an emphasis in Mental Health. Brenda has extensive experince working with autistic children and their families.

  • Leticia Fernandez - Office Manager

    Leticia is our office manger and handles our billing and insurnance issues. She is availabale daily from 9am-3pm to answer any questions you have about funding or other administrative issues.
